What I do:
I am a Referee/Mr.Voice/Performer here at ComedyCity, as well as running lots of the day to day things.
I’ve been in Kansas City, Mo. all my life. I went Truman High School where I participated in theatre, band, and choir. Basically if you could perform it, I did it. Except for improv. I was yet to discover the glory that is improv. After high school, I attended Avila University where I majored in Acting and Technical Theatre. It was here I found my love for improv and have been doing ever since.
In the 10 years improv and I have known each other, I’ve been lucky enough to perform with several groups. They are Gentlemen’s Club Improv Troupe, ComedyCity, Last Minute Improv, The Swinging Richards, and The Sweet Corn Festival. I’ve also been a part of the KC Improv Festival the past few years, as well as the Green Bay Improv Festival.
Background & Influences:
I was taught improv in college by a friend of mine and former ComedyCity performer Pete Weber. He actually is the one that convinced me to audition here when I was 18. I’ve taken several workshops and classes from some great people but, my influences are some of the people that I see everyday at ComedyCity. To name a few, Jared Brustad, Clay Morgan, Trish Berrong, Jim Montemayor, Michael “the Doughboy” Maslak. There are lots more, I just hate typing.
Teaching philosophy:
You can never stop learning. There is always, always more to learn. And it can come from anyone, anywhere. So… listen and observe as much as possible. You never know what you’ll know today, that you didn’t know yesterday.
Weirdest improv thang:
I once had to leave the stage, in the middle of a game, to poop. I’ve also split my pants open on stage. A lot, actually.
