ComedyCity Improv 201: Scenework (starts April 12, 7pm)

Next session starts April 12, 7pm

Creating characters who matter to each other (and the audience) is one of the most important skills in improvisation. Compelling relationships are the heart of any improv scene—whether it's in a long-form piece or short-form game.

We'll play with different ways to create characters (from your head, your heart, and your whole body) and a variety of ways into relationships (from emotional responses to spacial relationships to game moves). In addition, we'll explore other elements of scenework: objects and environment, and emotions and dialogue.

ComedyCity classes, like our Major League Improv shows, have short-form improv games as their foundation. Using games lets students explore and master skills and techniques they can use in short- and long-form improv. Plus, games are fun...and if you're not having fun, what's the point?

Improv 201 is an 8-week, 2 1/2 hour class. ComedyCity Improv 101: The Basics is a required prerequisite. Cost is $125 (save $25 when you register early).

NOTES:

  • There will be NO class Tuesday, May 31.
  • Students will end the class with a showcase performance on Thursday, June 9.
